The challenge
Singapore Oceanarium needed to make marine science accessible and inspire visitors to care about conservation, extending its purpose beyond entertainment.

The approach
A narrative built around wonder, time and depth connects 22 thematic zones. Stories guide visitors from the ocean’s past to its present, and from shallow habitats to the deep sea.

The experience
Interpretive panels combine clear language, diagrams and graphics. Reading load, typography and visual balance were tested with visitors. Observation prompts help families notice marine life and start conversations together.

Reported outcomes
The oceanarium opened in July 2025. The agency’s research reports 7,000–12,000 daily visitors and an average visit of three hours, compared with 45 minutes at the former S.E.A. Aquarium.

My contribution
As Interpretive Design Lead, I led accessible educational storytelling, working with subject-matter experts to translate science and conservation into engaging visitor content.
